Rational - Fantasy of Mystic
The study begins with macro environment analysis. There some important factors were identified as market opportunity. According to the US government statists there is a growth in performance industry with having government support. New York local government is promoting outdoor activities to attract inbound tourists to the state. Because of the economic resection some factories have been closed. Then government is renting them to dancers and other performers for low cost. Because of these reasons the performance industry is growing and it is predicted a 6.8% growth in 2018.
There is a clearly identified customer segment, about 14,000 is with this market opportunity, the dancers. They are more likely to use customize clothing integrated with technological aspects rather than per made basic cloths. But in the market the suppliers for this demand are less and customers are going to subsidiary products like active wear, casual wear, own made clothing’s, etc. So there is a market opportunity for a new clothing brand which can produce high tech clothing as to customers’ orders. Then the initial plan would be to introduce a clothing brand to this market and established on it.
A questionnaire, which is distributed among 100 hip hop dancers in New York, ensure that this business opportunity will help to make profit. Concept initiates with the inspiration source, “Magic” which came from the target customer segment. The background is that dancers need to give a magical output to delight the audience.
Having had a good research base about my inspiration source I made my concept as “Fantasy of Mystic” with a tag line of “The best fantasy of any mystic connected to some sort of science”. Below are the related roots, in particular to “Fantasy of Mystic” product development process.

As in the tag line it is mainly forcused on the scientific aspects of “mystic” to develop this concept to a “fantasy”. Then under the silhouette creations it gets the conceptual idea of “Illusion is a science”. Then it looks in to illusion aspects which are made with science or can describe with science. There the research forcuses on ray diagrams of various kind of lances and the scientific story of the formula “E = mc2”. With the development process it could get shapes which can be directly uses on designs as well as use as shapes then patterns which can be drape to get designs.
For the 3D surface development it is used a definition of magic, “Magic is like something happen fast and it interrupt and new thing comes out”. This is practice in real by getting materials and then accelerates them and interrupts the speed with an object. Then it observed the surface of the material and recreates it with knitting technology which comes under textile developments.
In the next step it goes through surface developments for 2D textures. There it used the shapes which come throughout the development process. Then place the surface developments to get maximum utilization of human body by considering the body mussels. It hopes to develop this to a new extend by a combination of ecstatic and technological parameters.
The next step is look in to technological aspect. There it consider in applying electronic technology to fashion. With the knowledge of knitting technology it is possible to apply an electronic circuit to the fabric without using electronic wires to pass signals. This would be an innovative approach to get in to the target customer segment with a unique selling point.
